Weekly Star Atlas Newsletter #195

Star Atlas Summer has officially wrapped up! The third and final Town Hall of the summer took place this past week, closing the season on a high note with a wide range of updates. For the first time, UE5 has been tied into the SAGE economy through a new earnable resource, INK, marking a major step in unifying the game’s experiences. To celebrate, the team hosted a Double XP (and double INK) weekend, giving players an early taste of this new system. At the same time, the team’s home-brewed SAGE Editor Suite was released to the public, allowing everyone to experiment with the tools and mechanics that will define SAGE C4 when it arrives on PTR later this year. Additionally, the team introduced Phantom Starbases to Starbase, shared the roadmap for Holosim, released a new UE5 patch, and launched Star Frame, the team’s brand-new open-source Solana framework set to replace Anchor.

We’re nearing the end of the Star Atlas Summer campaign, with the final Town Hall happening this Wednesday! Last week felt like the calm before the storm. News was light, with Holosim’s launch (a bit bumpy) standing out as the main update. Fortunately, two high-profile community-organized events took place during the weekend, which we’ll briefly cover below. We’re also excited to spotlight a new initiative from Chip, one of the team’s VPs, who has started documenting his daily development work.

The team is also weighing whether to shut down FICs ahead of C4, and hinted at major changes to game economics in this week’s Town Hall. Last, but definitely not least, a new UE5 patch rolled out that nerfed the Profound Punaab and introduced several quality-of-life updates.

The Community week is here! This will be a fun-filled week, featuring numerous activities and events for the community. With a Town Hall scheduled for Wednesday and two more planned for August, news has been scarce over the past weeks, and the previous one was no exception. The week itself, and primarily its two major community events, COPA and the Joni Awards, generated the bulk of the news we had. But there was a little more! The Holosim beta is about to end, and Dominic Vain has transitioned to Marketing Manager!
